backstitch embroidery tutorial – with video

back stitch embroidery tutorial

Backstitch plays a huge part in hand sewing and even in modern embroidery, it is one of the stitches you learn first. When most people think of a sewn seam, they think of the backstitch. A handsewn backstitch is executed very differently to a machine-sewn seam – which is done with 2 threads instead of one. This embroidery tutorial shows you how to do the backstitch.

This tutorial is part of the new lexicon of embroidery stitches.
